HOUSE IN THE OLD DAIRY
Scandinavian and a bit rustic, full of good design and natural fabrics – the house in the former dairy seduces with its cosiness and tranquility.
Pniewo is a small village in the west of Poland known primarily from The Międzyrzecz Fortification Region, a labyrinth of tunnels with railway stations and halls, built by the Germans in the 1930s several dozen meters underground. When after the war these areas passed into Polish hands, engineers built a state-owned farm right above them, modeled on post-German granges. They recreated the shape of the buildings and arranged them similarly.
The interior arranged by us is located in the building of the former dairy. On the ground floor there is a dining room with kitchen and pantry, and a bathroom. Wooden stairs located in the added part of the house lead to a spacious living area combined with a bedroom. There is also a small toilet upstairs.
In this project, we wanted to create a natural interior, conducive to relaxation, tailored to the needs of the owners. We chose natural materials in earthy colors, wooden furniture from small manufactories and clay and ceramic accessories.
We exposed the old roof truss, on which you can still see traces of suspended machines. Noble fabrics, especially linen, appeared throughout the house. Curtains were sewn from the thicker weave, from the lighter one with a decorative pattern – roller blinds, and from linen with the addition of cotton and sisal, the Danish manufactory Linie Design weaved carpets especially for this interior.
Standing by the bed, a screen with a cow motif designed by us is made of linen by Güell Lamadrid. This decorative element gives intimacy to a small bedroom arranged in the attic, separating it, if necessary, from the living room. When we saw the fabric pattern with blue cows, we immediately knew that we would use it in this interior. The cow motif also appears on porcelain plates from Belgium, the Netherlands, England and Germany placed on the wall in the dining room.
For the needs of this project, we designed carpentry in the attic, a wardrobe, a kitchen and a pantry, as well as some furniture. A large part of the furniture, accessories and decorations chosen by us for the interior of the house in the old dairy come from small manufactories.
