PUNKT MAZURY – COMFORT IN NATURE
ARCHITECTURE / INTERIOR DESIGN
PUNKT MAZURY

Kasia and Kamil came to JAM KOLEKTYW with heads full of dreams. During the first consultations they wanted to see how we picture a modern, atmospheric abode. It quickly turned out that we had similar visions and so we began a one year long cooperation on a project of an ideal place to relax in Masuria.

We collaborated with Michał Koziej, co-founder of the Koziej Architekci studio. He prepared the architectural, construction and structural designs for the buildings.

We designed two buildings on a plot of land covering a gentle slope rolling towards a lake – a smaller house comfortable for four to six people and a larger one accommodating up to ten.

The simple architecture form is open towards the nearby lake as much as possible and in form refers to rustic Masurian barns with gable roofs. We proposed a form whose shape harmoniously fits the natural landscape.

The interiors we designed are modern and minimalistic, in a “modern rustic” style. We suggested filling them with natural materials – wood, plywood, steel, neutral colors and craftsmen made objects – ceramics, textiles, handcrafts. As requested by the investors, each bedroom in the larger house was distinguished by different colored accents in the form of accessories and adornments.

The premise of Punkt Mazury (Masuria Point) was to be a friendly place for biking amateurs. The surrounding areas have numerous bike routes and the owners hope that the guesthouse will make for a great start out point. To emphasize the atmosphere of the place, each room boasts decorations connected to cycling and items made out of bicycle parts.

The large building’s open ground floor is a meeting place for guests, where they can cook, eat and relax together.

For anyone looking for some private space, an independent, smaller house was created. The open ground floor is composed of a living room, dining room, kitchenette and a bathroom. There are two bedrooms in the attic – an open one, on the mezzanine and a closed off one, behind a plywood wall.
