‘T HEMELTJE MEANS HEAVEN

A small habitat in the Dutch province of Zeeland is surrounded on all sides by a sky that paints windy landscapes every day.

A farm house from the late 19th century, which belongs to a larger complex of buildings, has been in the family for decades. We wanted the house after the renovation to fit in with the atmosphere of Dutch interiors, to retain the characteristic elements of the Zeeland farm, but also to have Polish accents. It was also crucial that, despite its size and location, it should be bright and spacious.

We have left the exterior of the building and the outbuilding unchanged. The old brick on the façade and the tile were sandblasted and completed by local craftsmen. The window joinery required a complete replacement, but we kept the characteristic divisions and colors of windows and external doors.

We wanted to keep the original, old details in the interior, including the stone floor, which is why the layout of the rooms remained practically unchanged. On the ground floor, the biggest revolution was the demolition of the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, which created a comfortable space for a family of six and its guests. The annexe has undergone a thorough reconstruction, now there are two bathrooms, a laundry room and a small storage room.

On 160 square meters of space, we managed to organize four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room and a spacious kitchen with a dining room.

While furnishing the interiors, we used products of Dutch brands known in Poland, but while searching, we discovered many wonderful places with which we cooperate on subsequent projects. However, a significant part of the furniture used in the project comes from Polish factories and Polish craftsmen.
