THE NEW JAM KOLEKTYW STUDIO IN THE WARSAW MDM

We wanted the studio space to inspire visitors. Here we show new solutions and present brands whose products and approach to design are close to us. In our projects, we willingly use vintage patterns as well as furniture and accessories made by craftsmen. Such elements were also found in the studio at Marszałkowska Street. Our assumption was to extract the potential of this place without interfering with the architecture, preserving the original details and the arrangement of bathroom and kitchen appliances.

MDM, or the Marszałkowska Residential District, was established in the center of Warsaw in 1950-1952 according to the design of a team of architects led by Józef Sigalin and Stanisław Jankowski. The characteristic buildings belonging to this complex stretch from Wilcza Street to Unii Lubelskiej Square. In 2015, MDM was entered in the register of monuments, and the characteristic decorations and façades of many of the buildings of this complex were subject to conservation. For us, this part of Warsaw has a special, sentimental meaning, which is why we are glad that the new JAM KOLEKTYW space is located in this location.

From the windows of the studio on the east side there is a view of Marszałkowska Street, while from the west you can see a quiet courtyard. Thanks to this arrangement, natural light creates a unique atmosphere in the interior. The enfilade layout of the rooms creates a multi-layered interior.

We did not have much time for renovation works, so we entrusted them to a trusted company. We ran the electrical installation on the surface. We added linen curtains to the windows and white blackout blinds in the design room. In the rooms, we managed to save the old beech parquet, which we discovered under the carpet. Wooden interior doors and door frames are also original.
